Early Career Award

 

Purpose

To provide outstanding Singaporeans who have recently completed their PhD and/or post-doctoral training or relevant terminal degree for their discipline, an opportunity to build their research portfolio and enable them to be considered for a tenure track position at SMU. This will be a term appointment for a period of up to three years during which the awardee will receive a research grant and will have a reduced teaching load assisting the awardee to concentrate on enhancing his/her research record.

Eligibility criteria

- Singapore citizens. 
- The candidate has recently completed PhD and/or post-doctoral training
- The candidate demonstrates a high degree of proficiency and motivation

Early Career Awards will be offered in the following areas:

- Accountancy
- Finance
- Marketing
- Strategy
- Operations Management
- Organisational Behaviour and Human Resources
Economics 
Information Systems
Law
Political Science
Psychology
Sociology

Application Process

To apply for the Early Career Award, you are required to complete and submit the Early Career Award Application Form along with the following:

i)    research statement and your three best research papers
ii)    detailed CV
iii)    degree certificates and academic transcripts
iv)    names and email addresses of three references who are familiar with your education/work
 
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for meetings with faculty from their discipline of interest and an interview with a university level committee. Decisions on the Early Career Award will be based on faculty feedback, your interview and the application materials submitted.
