With the support of the START Overseas Postdoctoral Fellowship, I was able to expand my domain and methodological training by working closely with exceptional international academics in social and health psychology. The opportunity to connect with and learn from the best has been inspiring and has deeply shaped the kind of global scholar that I aspire to be.

School of Economics

The START OPF has greatly enriched my academic career by allowing me to spend a year visiting Northwestern and Yale, where I had the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with leading researchers. This invaluable experience has deepened my research insights and broadened my professional network, significantly strengthening my contributions as a faculty member at SMU.

Yong Pung How School of Law

The START ECA gave me the opportunity to develop my research, as well as my teaching skills. I am very grateful for the guidance of my mentor and for the examples set by the faculty at the Yong Pung How School of Law. They gave me sound advice at this formative stage of my career, and modelled what it means to be an excellent scholar and educator. 

School of Accountancy

The MOE START Overseas PhD Scholarship (OPS) program gave me the opportunity to pursue a PhD at the University of California, Irvine, where I received rigorous training and high-quality mentorship. The overseas exposure deepened my understanding of complex international tax and accounting issues, enabling me to produce original and relevant research. Additionally, the financial support from OPS allowed me to present my work at overseas conferences and receive valuable feedback from leading scholars. Finally, I learned from US educators how to engage students from diverse nationalities and cultures, enhancing my effectiveness as an inclusive and impactful teacher.
