Eligibility
All undergraduates (UGs), Postgraduates (PGPs & PGRs) & Non-Graduating (NGs) students on official global programmes approved by Singapore Management University (SMU).
IMPORTANT:
- Student trips that are not sanctioned / not approved by the University OR undertaken purely for personal / leisure purposes i.e. vacation, are NOT covered under the SMU student travel insurance. Student on these personal trips are strongly encouraged to purchase their own personal travel insurance.
- Cessation of the student insurance coverage is based on a student's graduation date*.
*The day the Dean clears the graduation list is the official graduation date. Please note that the graduation date is NOT the same as commencement date.
Insurance Coverage
- Covers travel-related incidents, e.g. medical expenses, travel delays/postponements, damage/loss of personal belongings etc. subject to limits, terms and conditions of the policy.
- Covers up to 365 days for the SMU-approved global programme inclusive of personal deviation immediately before, during and/or immediately after the approved global programme. Personal deviation applies up to a maximum total of 60 days. Personal deviation taken within the official period of the SMU-approved global programme does not count towards the cumulative 60 days.

Benefits You App (BYA)

The Benefits You App (BYA) is a collaboration with Mercer Marsh Benefits (MMB), SMU's insurance broker, for an easier and more convenient way for students to manage their insurance claims, health and wellbeing - anytime, anywhere.
Students are highly encouraged to download and enrol onto BYA to access the student travel insurance benefits or to submit any travel insurance claims.

Follow the steps below to download and enrol onto BYA:
- Download the Benefits You App (BYA) from the App Store or Google Play.
- Register as a user using your full name, SMU email address and company code: SMUSG2539.

Submission of Claims
Claims must be submitted together with the relevant supporting documents via the Chubb Claims e-portal in the Benefits You App (BYA). All claims will be reviewed by the insurer and subjected to the policy limits, terms and conditions.
Follow the steps below to submit your claims via BYA:
- Access BYA > Benefits > Travel
- Under Chubb Insurance - Submit Travel Insurance Claims, select the 'Website' button
- Login to MyAccount* to file and to submit your claims together with the relevant supporting documents
Key in the policy number and complete the information / details of your claim:
- Policy number: 52325208
- Name of Policyholder: Singapore Management University
* First time users are required to create an account before accessing the portal to submit claims
IMPORTANT:
- Claims must be submitted within thirty (30) days of the occurrence of any event/incident.
- Claimant must use their full name as per NRIC/FIN/Passport No. and SMU email in their claims submission and correspondence.

- Scanned/softcopies of supporting documents (where applicable), including but not limited to:
- Hospital bill
- Medical receipt
- Medical report
- Medical certificate
- In-patient discharge summary
- Incident report

- Referral letter - Proof of authorised trip, including but not limited to;
- Letter of Approval from SMU
- Email/Notice of confirmation from SMU - Claimant's bank account information (for reimbursement of approved claims)

Request for Certificate of Insurance (COI)
Request for the Certificate of Insurance (COI) from Chubb at sgtravelcoi@chubb.com, using your SMU email address, by providing the following details.
- Policy No.: 52325208
- Name of Policyholder: Singapore Management University
- Name of Traveller (as per passport)
- Passport No.
- Destination (City & Country)
- Period of Trip (Departure date from & Arrival date back to Singapore)
NOTE:
- COI will require 3 to 5 working days for issuance, from the date of request.
- COI will cover travel under the current policy period up till 30 June 2025, as well as travel under the new policy period from 1 July 2025.
- It is essential for the COI to reflect the entire duration of travel. Student travellers who had previously requested for the COI, are strongly advised to make a new request, if applicable, to ensure that the COI reflects the actual start and end dates of travel.
Request for Overseas Letter of Guarantee and Emergency Medical Evacuation & Repatriation

(Caller will be connected to the assistance centre closest to the location of the caller)
IMPORTANT:
- ISOS will only issue the letter of guarantee for overseas medical treatment exceeding USD 500. Administrative service charges will apply, and is not covered under the travel insurance plan.
- Students are strongly advised to prepare emergency funds or have access to financial resources for the entire duration of their global programme.
