SMU China
SMU China is the Singapore Management University’s overseas centre presence in China, based in Shenzhen, a dynamic and innovative city at the heart of the Greater Bay Area (GBA). The office serves as a strategic gateway for SMU to deepen connections with China’s academic, business, and public-sector communities, while creating opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange across Asia.
Leveraging Shenzhen’s vibrant innovation ecosystem and SMU’s established partnerships in China, SMU China supports the University’s engagement with prospective and existing partners by providing local insights, facilitating institutional collaborations, and connecting stakeholders with SMU’s expertise and programmes. The office also coordinates SMU’s engagements in China to strengthen opportunities for students, faculty, alumni, and partners.
As part of SMU’s network of overseas centres, SMU China works closely with the University’s offices and overseas centres across Asia to create greater opportunities for cross-border learning, professional development, and knowledge exchange. It also supports the development of professional and continuing education opportunities that connect China with emerging markets in ASEAN.
Through its presence in Shenzhen and focus on the GBA, SMU China strengthens SMU’s ability to engage with one of Asia’s most dynamic innovation ecosystems, while advancing SMU’s role as a gateway between Asia and the world.

SMU China is SMU’s presence in Shenzhen, serving as a strategic gateway to deepen connections with China’s academic, business, and public communities. Successfully incorporated on 24 June 2026, SMU China will strengthen partnerships, create new opportunities for collaboration and further SMU’s role as a gateway between Asia and the world.
