SMC Student Sustainability Awards

SMU aims to prepare students as future sustainability leaders and active global citizens through transformative education and holistic learning experience. Supported by the Singapore Mentorship Committee (SMC), the SMC Student Sustainability Award is given to recognise students at the Singapore Management University who demonstrate commitment to sustainability efforts.

The award is given annually to students who have driven responsible and sustainable actions, making positive contributions to the University and/or society at large. The SMC Student Sustainability Award recognises efforts of students who demonstrate contributions across different dimensions of sustainability, as defined by the 17 United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Full-time undergraduates of any nationalities.
  • With demonstrated evidence of actions taken to make meaningful impact in the area of sustainability and contributing to any one or more of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). You may refer to https://sdgs.un.org/goals for details on the UN SDGs.
  • Active involvement in community work, CCAs or entrepreneurial pursuits.
  • Possess good character records.

The awards will only be given if there are candidates of sufficient merit.

Application

  • Applications will be invited in Term 2 annually.
  • Interested applicants must provide documentary evidence in support of fulfilment of eligibility criteria.

The SMC Student Sustainability Award is aligned to Strategy 2 (Develop Change Agents) of the SMU Sustainability Blueprint. The integration of sustainability education in both the curriculum and co-curriculum is designed to result in a transformational impact on knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours.
