How elected officials serving on international bodies promote Singapore's national interest

In a commentary, SMU Associate Professor of Law Eugene Tan discussed a recent proposed law which seeks to create a legal framework for the president and cabinet ministers to accept appointments in foreign and international organisations in their private capacities, where they are in the national interest. He shared why he found the proposed constitutional amendments to be timely and beneficial for Singapore. He also discussed how allowing elected officials to serve in international bodies will help Singapore to punch above its weight and further the national interest.
