In a commentary, SMU Associate Professor of Law Eugene Tan highlighted the need to keep the middle ground intact amid anxieties, which is a key driving force behind Forward Singapore. He explained how Forward SG could strengthen the middle ground and ensure government and politics enjoy broad-based support and a unity of purpose. Assoc Prof Tan opined that for the social compact to succeed, it must operate as a mass movement involving all stakeholders including the government, businesses, civil society and individuals, to strengthen the broad middle ground in national politics and create a fairer and more just society.
