Newly Vulnerable Markets: Understanding the Challenges and Strategies in Technology-Transformed Markets
With the extensive changes that have been occurring in technology-transformed markets in the past few years, SMU's Professor Robert Kauffman highlights an increasingly common pitfall - “Newly Vulnerable Markets”. What are they? What are their characteristics? How should companies, organisations and entrepreneurs affected by IT-driven changes understand the related challenges and deal with them? In this podcast, Professor Kauffman shares his insights and takes a deeper look at how “Newly Vulnerable Markets” can change the terms and conditions for organisations operating in existing markets, and the strategies to handle such environments.
Jun 2015Do you follow your heart or rely on logical reasoning when you shop? Marketers often encourage consumers to use either feelings or reasons when making consumption decisions, particularly in the design of advertisements. Research has found, however, that the effectiveness of either strategy may depend on the consumer’s self-view, as well as the time frame of which the decision outcomes actualise. In this podcast, SMU's Assistant Professor of Marketing Hannah Chang who specialises in research on consumer behaviour, discusses the dynamics of how feelings and reasons play a part in the consumer decision-making process.
