The Office of Global Learning is delighted to announce some newly established partnerships to expand the opportunities for international student exchange and summer exchange programmes. Attractive scholarship opportunities are also available. Read below to find out more:
 
Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (Research Institute of Economics and Management), China
Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) is a specialised finance, economics and business university located in Chengdu, China. SWUFE is one of the three specialised universities in finance and economics in China.
As a training base for the development of the financial industry as well as the socio-economic development of western China, SWUFE is known as China’s financial talent pool. SMU students will have the opportunity to study at the Research Institute of Economics and Management (RIEM). RIEM was established in 2006 in dedication to high quality teaching and research in economics, finance and management.

Zagreb School of Economics and Management, Croatia 
Founded in 2002, Zagreb School of Economics and Management (ZSEM) provides undergraduate and graduate education in economics, management, finance, marketing, and accounting. ZSEM received its AACSB accreditation in 2013 and is in the process of applying for EQUIS. It has been voted as the best business school in Croatia for five consecutive years. As a young university with a global outlook, ZSEM prepares its students for the global labour market by offering, among its other Bachelor programmes, a fully English-taught track for its Bachelor in Economics & Management. Zagreb is its nation’s capital, and the most populous city in Croatia. Zagreb today represents the administrative, economic, cultural, transportation and scientific centre of Croatia.

Jindal Global University (Law School), India

Hitotsubashi University (Law School), Japan
SMU currently has a university-wide agreement with Hitotsubashi University (HU). HU is a national university, and is the only university in Japan to specialise exclusively in the humanities and social sciences. HU educational pedagogy emphasizes seminar-styled classroom learning similar to SMU. 
The partnership with HU Graduate School of International Corporate Strategy would allow SMU LL.B and JD students to take courses from the Business Law Department of the Graduate School of International Corporate Strategy.

Leiden University, The Netherlands 
Leiden University is one of Europe’s leading international research intensive universities and is the highest ranked university in The Netherlands. The Times Higher Education ranks Leiden as the best university in Continental Europe for Arts and Humanities.
Exchange students have the opportunity to choose a range of courses from Leiden’s key faculties which  range from Law, Humanities, Social & Behavioural Sciences, Medical Centre, Archaeology, Science and Campus the Hague. Leiden University’s Law School has been ranked 6th in Europe and the Department of Business Studies sits within the Law School.

University of York (Law School), UK

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY
        
Eurex Exchange has agreed to award 2 scholarships ($15,000 each) for SMU students majoring in Finance who undertake an exchange in an institution in Frankfurt. The scholarship will be offered for the next two years.  With Goethe University being  one of the best universities in Frankfurt, and houses specialist institutes such as the Institute for Law and Finance (ILF) and the Center for Financial Studies (CFS), we look forward to more SMU finance majors accessing this attractive and invaluable scholarship opportunity.
 
We would also like to take the opportunity to highlight another longstanding scholarship opportunity – the Japan Student Services Organisation (JASSO) – for students going to Japan for exchange. Availability subject to individual University policy, this scholarship provides students a monthly stipend of 80,000 yen.
