International students play an important role in contributing to the multi-cultural character of SMU.
International students play an important role in contributing to the multi-cultural character of SMU. This diverse university population contributes significantly to cross-cultural understanding and allows for a deeper awareness of world issues.
Our Diversity, Inclusion & Integration (DII) team annually plans a series of social and recreational programmes to engage our international students. These activities provide opportunities for integration with the university community and are aimed at enhancing your student experience.
International and exchange students are in for a special treat, as our DII team at the Office of Dean of Students and student group SMU International Connections (SMU ICON) organise events and programmes specially designed to get you acquainted with Singapore and SMU! Most of these programmes are complimentary.
Freshmen Orientation essentially marks the beginning of your university life where you uncover and understand the SMU CIRCLE values and the SMU way of life as a student. The orientation provides a full integration of the CCA CBds (Sports, Arts, Special Interests & Community Service) activities and this will offer you an engaging and meaningful experiential programme. You will also get the opportunity to learn about each other's personal values facilitated by your seniors, as part of the SMU LifeLessons experience. Over three days, friendships are formed, leadership skills gained and the collegial spirit takes root.
