Helping a friend

Helping someone involves more than just listening.  You might not be able to provide all the help for your friend.

You can encourage them to:

  • speak and find support from their family
  • see a doctor
  • make a counselling appointment

Supporting a friend can be draining and impact you negatively.  You can also seek a counsellor regarding management of your own needs while helping a friend.  If you are not comfortable with speaking to a school counsellor for some reasons, there are external counselling agencies available too.
