Aljunied Study Grant

About the Bursary

Established in 2014, the Aljunied Study Grant is aimed at assisting needy full-time undergraduates at the Singapore Management University and to motivate them to achieve all-round excellence.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Full-time undergraduates enrolled in any degree programme
  • Any nationality
  • Gross monthly per capita household income not exceeding $1,700 or evidence of family financial difficulties.
  • A student in receipt of a scholarship, study award or bursary may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Quota

Two bursaries will be awarded annually and in perpetuity commencing Academic Year 2016-17.

Tenure and Benefits

  • The bursary is valued at $1,500 and tenable for one year of study.
  • The bursary will go towards funding the recipients' annual tuition fees.
  • Each recipient may be in concurrent receipt of another bursary for cash allowance, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria.

Not required

Tuition Grant Scheme

  • The recipient is required to take advantage of the Tuition Grant Scheme (TGS) provided by the Singapore Government for subsidised education.
  • Under the TGS, non-Singaporean recipients (including Singapore Permanent Residents) will be contractually obliged to work for Singapore-based companies for 3 years upon graduation.

Application

Shortlisting of candidates for consideration will be from the list of applicants applying for SMU-administered bursaries in the year of award.

About the Donor

The Aljunied Study Grant is made possible by Mr Syed Abdel Nasser Bin Syed Hassan Aljunied to provide financial assistance to full-time undergraduates at SMU. With the Study Grant, he hopes to inspire SMU students to strive for all-round excellence and achieve their fullest potential.
