Excelpoint Bursary

About the Bursary and Award

Established in 2014, the Excelpoint Bursary provides financial support to needy full-time undergraduates at the Singapore Management University, allowing them to take advantage of the unique educational experience and learning opportunities and not be denied of an SMU education because of financial constraints.

To motivate the recipients to achieve excellence in their studies, the Excelpoint Resilience Award is being set up as a form of encouragement and recognition.

Eligibility Criteria

Excelpoint Bursary

  • Full-time undergraduates enrolled in any degree programme and in any year of study
  • Singapore Citizens
  • With demonstrated financial needs (gross monthly per capita household income not exceeding $1,200)

Excelpoint Resilience Award

  • The Award will be given to the Excelpoint Bursary recipient who best demonstrates his/her ability in overcoming financial hardship and made progress in his her academic performance.
  • To be eligible for consideration, the recipient must achieved a positive difference between the award year and last academic year’s cumulative GPA and with a minimum 0.5 point difference.

Shortlisting of candidates for consideration will be from the list of applicants applying for SMU-administered bursaries in the year of award.

Tenure and Benefits


Excelpoint Bursary

  • Each bursary is valued at $5,000 and is tenable for one year of study.
  • The bursary will go towards funding the recipients' annual tuition fees.
  • The recipients may be in concurrent receipt of another bursary for cash allowance, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria.
  • At the expiry of the tenure, the recipient being selected to receive the Excelpoint Resilience Award will be eligible for the bursary in his/her subsequent year of study, subject to continued observance of the eligibility criteria and the terms and conditions of award.
  • No bond is required of the recipient.

Excelpoint Resilience Award

Certificate and $2,000 Cash Prize

Tuition Grant Scheme

The recipients are required to take advantage of the Tuition Grant Scheme provided by the Singapore Government for subsidised education.


Shortlisting of candidates for consideration will be from the list of applicants applying for SMU-administered bursaries in the year of award.
