SMU International Connections

SMU International Connections (ICON), our international students' club, partners the International Students' Unit (ISU) to help foster relations between the University's local, international and exchange student communities.

Since 2008, we have seen the formation of 9 sub-groups under ICON. Each sub-group aims to contribute to the cultural diversity of our University by promoting exchanges of cultures through events and activities organized and linking the SMU community to an array of global opportunities. SMU ICON witnessed a major change in its structure in 2009 where it was transferred from being a CCA under Arts and Cultural Fraternity (ACF) to directly under SMU Students' Association (SMUSA), which better positions SMU ICON in catering the needs of international students.

The 9 sub-groups are namely:

Apsara Cambodia

Chao Vietnam

Connect China

SMU Barkada (Filipino Community)

SMU Francophiles

SMU Myanmar Community

SMU Roots

Yim Siam (Thai Community)

Woori Sayi (Korean Community)
