How to Participate

Employers who are interested to offer internships to SMU students may post the positions any time of the year free of charge on our exclusive recruitment portal, SMU OnTRAC .

The SMU OnTRAC System provides employers with an avenue to informing current SMU undergraduates and potential recruits of their corporate business, services available and career opportunities.

Employers can enjoy direct access to a potential pool of talents among the undergraduates in SMU. With SMU OnTRAC, you can:

  • Post and update internship and career opportunities;
  • View the applications and the resumes submitted;
  • Inform applicants of the applicant outcome, and
  • Make an offer to the successful candidate, all at a click of the mouse!

This would reduce administrative work and speed up the recruitment process. Moreover, the online system is password-secured, thus maintaining and respecting the privacy of our employers and applicants at all times.

In addition, employers, voluntary welfare organizations, and non-government organizations can also enlist the help of SMU undergraduates to plan, organize or participate in various worthy community service projects.

If you are interested in posting a position with us, simply register online at https://ontrac.smu.edu.sg . A username and password will be generated for you to access the online system. Please contact us at 6828 0177 or email us at employer@smu.edu.sg if you have any queries.

Meanwhile, get ready to navigate this new and exciting system!

Things to Note

Duration of Internship
SMU undergraduates are required to complete 12 weeks of internship - 10 weeks with a business organisation and 2 weeks with a community, civic or social organisation. They can serve their internships during the vacation period from April to August each year, on completion of at least two semesters of coursework.

Allowance & Working Hours
Our Office would recommend a monthly allowance of $600-$700. Students will follow the normal office working hours of the organisations.

Work Permit Exemption
Employers accepting foreigners who are full-time matriculated or registered students of SMU for internships are exempted from applying work permits for these students.

CPF Exemption
Employers accepting full-time matriculated or registered students of SMU as interns are exempted from CPF contributions.

Insurance
All SMU students are covered against personal or bodily injuries caused by or arising out of accidents under a Group Personal Accident Scheme (24-hours worldwide) arranged by SMU for a sum of $15,000. However, you may wish to cover the students under your organisation's insurance schemes, such as medical or workmen's compensation.
