Practice Associate Professor John Davis is author of The Olympic Games Effect-How Sports Marketing Builds Strong Brands (2008 John Wiley & Sons), the best-selling Measuring Marketing: 103 Key Metrics Every Marketer Needs (2006 John Wiley & Sons), Magic Numbers for Sales Management (2007 John Wiley & Sons), and Magic Numbers for Consumer Marketing (2005 John Wiley & Sons). John is currently completing Competitive Success: How Branding Adds Value (John Wiley & Sons, expected 2009/10). He is Practice Associate Professor of Marketing at the Lee Kong Chian School of Business at Singapore Management University (SMU), where he received the ‘Most Inspiring Teacher' Award in 2007 and the Dean's Teaching Honors in 2004/05 and 2005/06. John is also Director for SMU's Centre for Marketing Excellence. He has taught at the University of Washington Graduate School of Business, University of California at Davis School of Management, and in partner programs with faculty from University of Chicago, INSEAD, Emory, Munich Business School, and the European Business School.

In John's 20+ year business career he led global marketing and business development organizations for Fortune 1000 companies including: Nike, Informix, and Transamerica (where he received the company's highest honor—The Presidential Award). These experiences included: leading global businesses with over US$200 million in revenues; achieving #1 market share positions through revitalization initiatives; brand repositioning; dozens of global product launches; and spearheading several acquisitions. John also started two award-winning companies with private investor groups. He has consulted and/or led executive education programs for senior managers from many of the most respected companies, including: IBM, DOW Chemical, Allianz, TIAA-CREF, OCBC, SingTel, SK Telecom, Commerzbank, Schneider Electric, MSIG, SingHealth, Intercontinental Hotels Group, Intertek, Synovate, Harris Corporation, Boeing, VSP, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, EDB, SMRT, NOL and SwissRE.

John has been interviewed by MSNBC, Bloomberg, BBC, CNBC, ChannelNewsAsia, Bravo!, Prime Time Morning, Asia TV-Hong Kong, and HCMC HTV7-Vietnam, National Public Radio (NPR-US) and 938Live! and has broadcast a 24 segment show about marketing. He has regularly appeared in print interviews with MSNBC, The Business Times, the Straits Times, PEAK Magazine, The Business Journal, Business to Business Magazine, The Edge, Singapore Marketer, Marketing Magazine, and TodayNews. He co-hosts the podcast series, ‘LeadershipMatters'.

John is a highly sought speaker, having spoken in Asia, Africa, Europe and North America at the world's premier conferences, including: YPOs, Business Perspectives, The Global Brand Forum, Entrepreneurs Organizations (EO), American Marketing Association (AMA), Asia Business Leaders Forum, International Conference on Brand Strategies and Management, Global Entrepolis, and iX2005.

John is Chairman and Founder of Brand New View. He is a member of the board of EducationNOW!, Elite Sports Management, SMU's MBA Advisory Committee, the Business Innovations Group, and the Lee Kuan Yew Global Business Plan Competition.

John received his MBA from Columbia University and his BA from Stanford University.
