Psychology, was appointed Chairman of the International Advisory Panel to the National Addictions Management Centre and National Council of Problem Gambling, and a member of the international committee formed to develop measures of national well-being. He was also invited to speak at the XXIXth International Congress of Psychology (World Congress) in Berlin, Germany; Conference on The New Science of Happiness and Well-Being in Singapore from 16-17 April 2008; and 23rd Annual Conference of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology in San Francisco, USA, 10-12 April 2008.
Giorgos CHELIOTIS, Visiting Assistant Professor of Information Systems, was an invited speaker at the Institute of Information Science of the Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan on 17 January 2008, and at the International Workshop on Asia and

Raj KOMARAN, Practice Associate Professor of Management, has been appointed External Examiner for Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s Diploma in Business Studies (International Business Option) in its School of Business and Accountancy for the academic years 2007/2008 and 2008/2009. Eugene K.B. TAN, Assistant Professor of Law, has concluded a study, with the support of the United States Department of Homeland Security National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START). The research was
published as the lead article in volume 19(4) of the journal Terrorism and Political Violence. Assistant Professor Tan was also a member of the Global Taskforce that drafted the ‘Principles for Responsible Management Education’ (PRME) under the auspices of the UN Global Compact, which was launched at the 2007 Global Compact Leaders Summit in Geneva.

DISTINGUISHED TERM PROFESSOR OF ECONOMICS
Professor Peter C.B. Phillips has been appointed the Distinguished Term Professor of Economics in SMU’s School of Economics. During the three-year appointment Professor Phillips will explore and undertake research with SMU faculty and students, teach econometrics in SOE’s postgraduate programmes and give advice on SOE’s research strategies and postgraduate programmes, especially
the PhD.
Professor Phillips is the Sterling Professor of Economics and Professor of Statistics at Yale University. He is the founder and Editor of Econometric Theory and founding Editor of Themes in Modern Econometrics for Cambridge University Press. He is an elected Fellow of the Econometric Society, the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, the Journal of Econometrics, the American Statistical Association, the Guggenheim Foundation, the Modeling and Simulation Society of Australia and New Zealand, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand. He has also been ranked number one in leading econometrics and economics journals. |
