On behalf of SMU’s Initiatives for Social Enterprise (SMU-ISE), Mr Teo Ser Luck, Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, officially launched SAGESG – Students for the Advancement of Global Entrepreneurship (Singapore) on 29 January 2008. SMU-ISE brought the SAGE programme to Singapore to enable pre-university students to embark on social entrepreneurial projects, with mentorship and advice from SMU and the business community. SAGE founder and Global Executive Director, Dr Curtis DeBerg delivered the keynote address “Commercial Entrepreneurship, Social Entrepreneurship, and SAGE: A TSMO for Youth Education and Development”. Dr DeBerg is based in the College of Business at California State University. Six junior colleges are already part of SAGESG and will present their projects and compete for the chance to represent Singapore at the SAGE World Cup in Nigeria from 22-27 August 2008.
