Chicago GSB and SMU join hands in biz ed

The University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and SMU have entered into a collaborative relationship and will jointly offer conferences, business and custom
programmes. The partnership allows both institutions to draw on each other’s strengths
and resources as well as enhance the quality
of teaching and research in executive
education.


The inaugural joint conference, “Fostering a Culture of Ownership”, was held on 17
February at the SMU Auditorium. Keynote speaker, Mr Joel Stern, Adjunct Professor of Finance at Chicago GSB and the measures
that Singapore companies could adopt to add flexibility to their wage system and to link employee performance to variable
compensation.

Mr Stern noted: “A bonus bank creates a culture of ownership and turns employees into ‘value-change agents’ who become partners in creating capital.”


A sterling panel of industry veterans was also invited to share with the audience on their views and experiences with performance measurements: Mr Alan Chan, CEO, Singapore Press Holdings Ltd; Mr Chris Matten, Executive Director of Financial Risk Management, PricewaterhouseCoopers; Ms President & CEO, SembCorp Environmental Management (SembEnviro); Dr Loo Choon Yong, Executive Chairman, Raffles Medical Group; Mr Peter Tay, President & CEO, Singapore Food Industries; and Mr Sanjiv Misra, Country Officer, Citigroup.


The event attracted over 140 business overed by major dailies in Singapore. The next joint programme, “Corporate Venturing, Creation & Restructuring”, will be held 21-25 June.
