Three weeks of exhilarating racing were successfully co-organised by SMU students and Raffles Marina from 12-26 August 2007 at Singapore’s largest keelboat sailing regatta. This was the first time SMU had teamed up with Raffles Marina, and the maiden sailing event to be organised by SMU students. More than 200 sailors and 50 boats participated, with 16 SMU undergraduates injecting their signature vibrancy and enthusiasm.
The event culminated in the awarding of a new trophy, the SMU President’s Cup. Donated by SMU President, Professor Howard Hunter, the handsome trophy was presented to the winner of the Passage Race on 19 August 2007 at the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding between SMU and Raffles Marina.
