As part of a community service project ‘Project R.I.C.E' which is spearheaded by Singapore Management University's Red Cross Society, 70 SMU students collected rice from Toa Payoh residents on Sunday morning for needy families under the care of Care Corner Family Service Centre (Toa Payoh).

Two hundred students from SMU and Jurong Junior College attempted to cover 40,000 kilometres, the circumference of the globe, in 24 hours by completing 100,000 laps around a stadium track by jogging, wheeling, or spinning on stationary bicycles. The event, Trilympics 2008, is held in support of disability sports and Singapore's athletes taking part in the upcoming Beijing Paralympics.
