City Campus Design Competition Results
After months of intense competition,
award-winning architectural team, KNTA Architects
(Singapore)/Edward Cullinan Architects (UK), has
been selected as the overall winner of the Singapore
Management University Urban & Architectural Design
Competition.
KNTA Architects/Edward Cullinan
Architects will be appointed the Master Architect
for the SMU city campus at Bras Basah, which includes
designing and implementing the academic buildings
and public open spaces of the campus for Phase One.
Selection of architects for subsequent phases of
the campus will be determined after Phase One is
completed.
The design of the administrative
building was won by Design-Environment Group (Singapore)/Cox
Architects & Planners (Australia).
The winning teams were selected
from the original 172 Stage One submissions and six
short-listed Stage Two submissions.
In managing the City Campus project,
SMU will continue to take into account the views
and feedback from the public, authorities and stakeholders.
The building heights will be kept to the scale and
height of the city campus' surroundings and a new
Bras Basah Park will be designed to be the focus
of both the cultural district and the new university.
Due to the historical significance of the site, SMU
has and will continue to maintain transparency in
the development process and ensure that the final
design is of an exceptionally high standard. |
