Singapore Management University Ties
Up with University of Otago for International Exchange
Programme
Three weeks into the Singapore Management
University's (SMU) academic year and already SMU
will sign its third collaboration for its International
Exchange Programme, this time with a New Zealand
university - the University of Otago
The University of Otago is New
Zealand's oldest university and currently admits
more international students than any other university
in the country. SMU's collaboration with them will
enable SMU students to study in Otago for six-month
stints and vice versa, adding a breadth of cultural
richness and working perspectives to the undergraduate
experience.
The first two Memoranda of Understanding
were signed with Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University
of Japan on 1 August 2000 and the University of Adelaide
in Australia on 27 August 2000. These intensive tie-ups
with international universities are in line with
SMU's objective to allow 100% of the pioneer intake
of SMU students to benefit from exchange programmes
- if they elect for them. These programmes aim at
enlarging the global perspective and diverse cultural
experiences for students.
Today at 10.00am, Dr Graeme Fogelberg,
Vice-Chancellor of the University of Otago, will
sign the MOU with Prof Tan Chin Tiong, Provost of
SMU at the Pan Pacific Hotel during the Asian Academic
Accounting Conference also organised by SMU. Also
attending the signing ceremony will be HE David Kersey,
New Zealand High Commissioner to Singapore. |
