Course Registration & BOSS
Important Info - Download Freshmen Guide to BOSS here
Freshmen are allowed to enrol for up to 5.5 course units (CUs) in their first term of study and they will be pre-assigned between 2 and 5 CUs per term. Freshmen who are pre-assigned less than 5 CUs of courses may wish to bid for additional courses in their first term.
The personalized class schedule for freshmen is scheduled to release from Monday, 4 August 2008. Only Matriculated Freshmen can bid for courses from 6 to 9 August 2008.
All students are expected to make use of the university's course registration system, BOSS, to bid for courses. A detailed guide to BOSS is available via the student portal OASIS > Study > BOSS > Introduction/Guide to BOSS which is only accessible to all MATRICULATED SMU students.

4. BOSS
BOSS is SMU's Bidding Online SyStem for the registration of courses. BOSS is intended to empower students with the choice of selecting the courses they wish to enrol for in any one term. Based on available resources in the form of e-dollars ( e$ ), students will need to make their choice by considering the demand and supply of the courses as well as their academic study plan not just for the current term but also the future terms.
Students who wish to have a smooth and problem-free course enrolment exercise should familiarize themselves with the rules and regulations governing the course enrolment exercise. Students should note that ignorance of standing rules and policy will not absolve you of the consequences of not complying with them. Not knowing a rule and policy has yet to be accepted as a reason or justification for non-compliance.
The information on policies and procedures relating to course enrolment found in the BOSS Handbook, which is available online via OASIS > Study > BOSS > Introduction/Guide to BOSS.
