Overview

Welcome to the sixth biennial Lee Kuan Yew Global Business Plan Competition, named after Singapore’s Minister Mentor, widely acknowledged as a thinker and a global visionary.

Organised specially for undergraduate, college and polytechnic students around the world, the competition continues to be a platform for entrepreneurs of tomorrow. Participants will be able to showcase their business plans and entrepreneurial talents on a global stage, attract seed funding to further their business ambitions as well as extend their network of friends and business contacts through the Competition.

Participants stand to win up to US$60,000 in cash, prizes and business development opportunities. Overseas finalists will receive 5 night hotel stay in Singapore for 2 core team members.

SMU's Institute of Innovation & Entrepreneurship is the organiser of the competition together with SMU students.

Competition Rounds

History

The Lee Kuan Yew Global Business Plan Competition was founded in 2001 when it launched its inaugural Competition in the SMU Bukit Timah campus. Since then, the Competition had grown from strength to strength with more than 1000 business plan entries received from at least 75 institutions with 35 countries represented.

SMU's Special Projects Division of the Provost Office held the helm of the Competition since its inauguration in 2001 till 2007. In 2008, the Competition was handed over to the students from the Lee Kong Chian Scholars Programme at SMU to enable SMU student leaders to contribute towards the objectives of this Competition.
