A. Logistics and Travel Arrangements
- Finalists from overseas teams will receive a maximum of 2 economy class tickets (the most direct and economical route from the city of their home institution which they have registered from) to Singapore to compete in the Finals. The 2 complimentary air-tickets are only for the core members of the team. If the team members consist of only 1 core member, the team will only receive 1 air-ticket to Singapore.
- Every team will receive 1 complimentary deluxe hotel (meant only for twin sharing) room for 4 nights at a 5-star hotel. SMU will make the necessary arrangements with the hotel. Sponsored accomodation includes only the cost of the room, with any miscellaneous expenses to be borne by the team.
- SMU will pay for a maximum of 2 core members per team for the Final. Other registered team members can accompany the team members if they desire, at their own cost.
B. The Presentation
- Teams will not be allowed to submit a new business plan for the Final. However, a 1 page update can be handed out to the judges before their presentation if the team desires.
- Only the core team members are allowed to make their presentation/answer questions from the panel of judges. There is no limit to the number of core team members who can make the presentation/take questions from the judges. To avoid any confusion, only the presenting core team members are allowed to take the questions from the judges. Non presenting core members and non-core members will not be allowed to take questions from the judges.
- Teams will draw lots to determine the order of presentation.
- Each team will be given a total of 25 minutes (including time for Q&A from the judges). We suggest that you distribute your time as follows:
| Set-up time: |
approximately 2 minutes |
| Presentation time: |
approximately 10 minutes |
| Q&A: |
approximately 10 minutes |
The teams have the discretion to manage the 25 minute allocated time slot. The team members /judges will be cut off after the 25 minute time limit. Do manage your time carefully. It will be to a team’s disadvantage if the judges have insufficient time to pose questions to the team.
Teams will be buzzed off at the 25 minute mark.
- Non-core members and non presenting core members can sit in throughout the presentation, on the condition that there is no communication between them and the presenting core team members.
Presenting core members will be kept in a separate holding room.
- Due to the confidentiality of the presentations, entry to the event is strictly by invitation only from SMU. We regret that we are unable to accommodate any requests from unrelated or external parties to the event.
