SMU Residences @ Prinsep

The new SMU Residences @ Prinsep Street will welcome its first student residents in the second quarter of the 2007 academic year. The residence will offer SMU students prime urban living within walking distance to the university's city campus.

Location

The residence is within close proximity to Little India, Arab Street , Bugis Junction and the National Library. In addition, the hostel is surrounded by museums, theatres, educational institutions, art galleries, cafes, restaurants and a range of retail outlets. Here in the midst of the civic, cultural and commercial district is a haven of exotic sights, scents and sounds. Located at 83 Prinsep Street , it is just 10 minutes walk from the campus.

Apartments

The residence consists of 3 blocks of 4-storey apartments in a tropical setting with landscaping and abundant foliage. There are total of 48 individual apartments. Each has a lounge cum dinning area, equipped with refrigerator and microwave oven, 2 toilets cum shower and 4 bedrooms with multi-split air conditioning (2 single and 2 twin sharing bed) which can accommodate up to 6 residents. Rooms are furnished with a Loft Bed/Study table, wardrobe, towel rail study chairs, waste bins and mattress (pillows and sheets are not provided). Rooms are also equipped with Power points, LAN points and Circular PL lamps.

Concept

The apartment concept allows students to experience independent living while offering excellent opportunities for close interaction among apartment residents. Each apartment has a senior student to assist with any concerns that students may have. In addition there are 2 housemasters who act as guardians and work to create a strong, close-knit family culture.
