Singapore Management University (SMU) is committed to developing a global perspective and cross-cultural understanding among its students. One of the steps taken to achieve this is by maintaining close links with over 100 partner institutions in the various continents through SMU's international student exchange and summer programmes managed by the Office of International Relations (OIR).

OIR not only gives advice and services to students on academic, immigration and accommodation issues; there is a buddy system administered by the department which aims at fostering a better understanding and friendship between full-time and international exchange students
