Before Departure
Before coming to Singapore, please enquire at the Singapore High Commission in your country regarding visa requirements for entry into Singapore. Details are also available in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA)'s website.
You should also check with your Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) whether you are required to apply for an entry visa.
Upon Arrival
Complete the Disembarkation / Embarkation form, which you will receive on your flight to Singapore, taking special care not to omit anything. You will present this with your passport to the Immigration Officers at the airport in Singapore. Please retain the portion of the Disembarkation / Embarkation that will be given to you as this is required for the application of Student's Pass. You may be asked to show your Letter of Acceptance.
Student's Pass
SMU's Office International Relations will apply for a student's pass on your behalf.
The processing fee for a Student’s Pass is S$30.00.
The issuance fee for a Student’s Pass is S$60.00.
S$30.00 for Multiple Journey visa, if applicable.
Students are required to make an appointment with the immigration office for collection of the Student's Pass.
The Student's Pass must be collected in-person at the immigration office.
A letter of authorization will not be accepted.
Please bring the following documents for your student's pass collection at ICA:
- The printout of eForm 16 submitted through SOLAR (duly signed by the applicant).
- The student's valid passport. A copy of the passport particulars page must be submitted.
- The Disembarkation/Embarkation card of the student, granted on entry into Singapore.
- A copy of the in-principle approval letter

- Medical report (only applicable to students staying in Singapore for more than 6 months).
- One recent colour passport-sized photograph (taken on white background).
