The Sim Kee Boon Institute (SKBI) for Financial Economics is organising the inaugural International Symposium on Financial Economics (ISAFE) on May 4-6, 2011 in Singapore. This symposium will be a signature event in Singapore hosted jointly by SKBI and Singapore Management University (SMU). The event will bring to Singapore leading international speakers and panelists from academia, central banks and the finance industry to address a wide audience responsible for and interested in economic planning in the region in the context of financial uncertainty.
The theme for ISAFE2011 is "A New Global Financial Landscape". With this thematic, the conference aims to pay attention to the dramatic events and circumstances of the last 2-3 years which have impacted the global financial environment and economic activity.The general audience sessions will feature keynote presentations and panel discussions by leading international economists and central bank senior executives who will share wisdom about forward-looking perspectives that are relevant to Singapore and the region.
The first day of the symposium (May 4) will be devoted to training sessions for postgraduate students and the industry participants on selected topics in financial economics. This series of Master Classes is intended to offer in-depth learning on specific areas of financial economics. The second day (May 5) will feature the Conference Opening Session and Keynote Sessions by leading figures in the finance industry, academia and central banks. On the third day (May 6) several academic sessions are planned to showcase the activities and contributions of the four individual Research Centres of SKBI to the mission of the Institute.
The Symposium Co-Chairs are Professor Peter C.B. Phillips (Yale University and SMU) and Professor Jun Yu (SMU).
