The Sim Kee Boon Institute for Financial Economics (SKBI) was officially launched on July 2, 2008 as a university-wide research institute at the Singapore Management University to be a leading think-tank in Asia in financial economics and financial econometrics. It is the first establishmentin Singapore to be named after the late Mr. Sim Kee Boon to honour the many contributions he had made to Singapore.

Through its four research centres, the Institute undertakes basic and applied research and drives training/education programs and development, in the major areas of financial econometrics, asset securitisation and real estate finance, silver security, and corporate and investor responsibility.
