INAUGURAL SMU INNOVATION AWARDS

Recognising your Innovative Idea

The inaugural 2010 SMU Innovation Awards or SMUIA seeks to identify promising innovative ideas from SMU students, staff and faculty.

Up to $100,000 will be given out to compelling innovative ideas with the potential for commercialisation.

If you have an innovative idea waiting to be recognised, we want to hear from you!

Take this opportunity to pitch your idea and you could be one step closer to turning your innovation into reality.

Please read on for details to the two categories up for Awards - Open Category and Athena Channel Category. Further information can also be found in the application form (download found at the right column or attached).

Open Category

All innovative ideas (product/service) with commercial potential are accepted in this category.

(i) The Awards

(a) Two Individual Awards will be given out at $5000 each

(b) One or more recipients will receive up to $50,000, depending on the strength of the innovation, for the purposes of implementing the innovation*

*Business incorporation is required for awards above $10,000.

Athena Channel Category

Pitch your idea of a futuristic TV Media Content for digital broadcasting and you could be on your way to seeing it broadcasted on PGK Media's Athena Channel! The Athena Channel is an experimental DVB-T channel (Digital Video Broadcasting - Terrestrial) that will be aired through PGK Media's digital broadcasting station.

(i) The Awards

(a) Up to five recipients will receive up to $10,000 each for producing pilots of their concept.

(b) Applicants are strongly encouraged to form teams comprised of students, staff, faculty and alumni of LASALLE, NAFA and NYP (member Institutions of the Athena Innobator)*
