Small and Medium Enterprises can benefit from the Active Innovation Management training program offered by IIE. They can engage SMU students trained in innovation as innovation catalysts.
The Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship invites SMU students interested in innovation training and hands on experience to sign up for the Innovation Catalyst Program. Selected SMU students will undergo five days of training alongside Small and Medium Enterprises and go on to do a summer internships with a SME on both institutionalizing innovation management process and identifying some low hanging innovation opportunities.
Students with Market Research background will be most productive in this programme. All SMU students are encouraged to apply for the programme. Those students successfully completing the training and the follow on internship will receive certificates stating that they have completed the “Innovation Catalyst Program”. The ICP has the following components.
Phase 1:
Part 1: Innovation Opportunity Identification methods
Mid March: Introduction to Innovation, QaDIM methodology and exercises
Mid March: Introduction to Innovation Cube, Innovation Grid methodologies and exercises.
Mid March: Introduction to Service innovations, Blue Ocean Methodology and exercises
Part 2: Institutionalizing Innovation Management
Mid March: Encouraging the fuzzy front end, Incentives and exercises
Mid March: Securing Intellectual property, Technology acquisition and exercises
Phase 2:
Internship Mid April to Mid August, at least three months
