The Academic Affiliate Programme (AAP) has collaborations with Educational Institutes of higher learning in Singapore and abroad. The programme sources Intellectual Property (IP) from its collaborators to commercialize a broad range of their IP. It conducts an IP Audit and Valuation process of the Intellectual Property offered to it. The outcome of the IP Audit will determine whether the IP is best suited to be commercialized into a start-up company, or to license it out to third parties or to simply abandon it. The IP best suited for a start-up company will be presented to experienced professionals through the Affiliates' Corner (AC) networking session.
The programme also sources technology specialists and aids in building core teams to expand the IP to relevant markets. Through IIE, the SMU Community can gain exposure to business mentors, investors, funding opportunities, networking opportunities and incubation support.
Affiliates Corner (AC) Affiliates' Corner brings together intellectual property owners, innovators and experienced professionals who are interested in innovations and entrepreneurships to promote commercialization of innovations and startups through the processes of discovery and partnership. Some of the sessions will be thematic in nature while the others will offer free flow of discussions related to innovation and entrepreneurship.
Students, graduates and faculty members from local and overseas universities, technology transfer officers and freelance innovators and technical experts are welcome to attend AC meetings will start at 6.30 pm on the third Wednesday of every month at the SMU faculty lounge (Level 6, SMU Administration Building).
