International Exchange Scholarship
 

The SICC International Exchange Scholarship is established by the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce (SICC) for deserving full-time SMU undergraduate students who wish to spend a semester of study in an overseas university.

Three scholarships will be awarded annually – one to a student selected for an exchange at The Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania, USA, and two to students selected for an exchange at SMU partner universities in Asia. For a list of SMU partner universities in Asia, please click here.

Eligibility Criteria

The Scholarship will be offered only once to a student during his/her tenure of studies.

Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Full-time SMU undergraduates who are Singaporeans or Permanent Residents pursuing any degree programme
  • Demonstrate outstanding academic results, good leadership skills, active involvement in co-curricular activity and community service commitment
  • Due consideration will be given to the financial needs of students of equal merit

Tenure and Benefits of Scholarship

  • The Scholarship value is determined on a case-by-case basis and will be used to subsidize tuition fees, and living and travel expenses. It is tenable for one semester of study abroad.
  • No bond is required of the recipient.

Tuition Grant Scheme

  • Scholars are required to take advantage of the Tuition Grant Scheme (TGS) provided by the Singapore Government for subsidized education.
  • Under the TGS, non-Singaporean scholars will be obligated to work in Singapore for a minimum period of three years upon graduation.

Application

Application for the Scholarship will be invited from students who have been selected for overseas exchange programmes with SMU partner universities.
