Funded by a generous grant from Victor & William Fung Foundation, the Li & Fung Scholarships are available for outstanding full-time local undergraduates at the Singapore Management University proceeding for exchange in overseas universities, as well as outstanding students from universities in China on exchange to SMU. The objective of the scholarships is to enrich the scholars' understanding in their fields of study and to expose them to different cultures and environments.
More than 10 scholarships, each valued at $5,000, will be offered to successful applicants annually.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the scholarships, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Outbound (SMU Students)
- Full-time undergraduate students in any year (except final year) and field of study
- Should preferably be Singapore Citizens
- Possess outstanding academic results
- Demonstrate leadership qualities
- An active record of CCA participation
- A record of community service involvement
- Must have applied/or proceeding for exchange in an overseas university which has an exchange agreement with SMU.
- Must be prepared, on return from overseas exchange, to write a 400-word report on the benefits of the exchange experience.
Inbound (Incoming Exchange Students)
- Full-time undergraduate students from Chinese universities with an exchange agreement with SMU
- Recommended by exchanged universities
Tenure and Benefits of Scholarship
- Recipients will be referred to as the Fung Scholars.
- Fung Scholars will receive a cash sum of $5,000 to fund exchange-related expenses.
- The scholarship funds will be disbursed to scholars on confirmation of the university exchange.
- No bond is required under the terms of this Scholarship.
Application
SMU students will be invited to apply for The Li & Fung Scholarship twice a year, once in each regular semester.
