YCH Group Scholarship
 

The YCH Group Scholarship, established by YCH Group, is aimed at encouraging foreign full-time undergraduates from Asian countries pursuing the Bachelor of Science (Information Systems Management) programme to strive for and achieve both academic and professional excellence through leveraging on business intelligence related IT solutions for business innovation and value creation.

Two scholaships will be awarded annually commencing Academic Year 2008-09.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this Scholarship, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Full-time undergraduates who are citizens of Asian countries* pursuing the Bachelor of Science (Information Systems) programme
  • Good academic results (cumulative GPA of at least 3.0)
  • Demonstrate leadership potential
  • Good sense of citizenship within SIS or the broader SMU community
  • Preference will be given to students proceeding for their third or fourth year of studies with a second major concentration either in advanced technology and applications with SIS, or within programmes offered by any of the other five schools at SMU
  • Special consideration may be given to students with financial needs

*Asian countries include India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, China, the Philippines and Malaysia.

Tenure and Benefits of the Scholarship

  • Each scholarship is tenable for up to three years of the scholar's studies, dependig on his year of study in the year of the scholarship award, subject to good academic results.
  • The Scholarship will offer financial support towards the scholar's annual subsidized tuition fees .
  • The scholar is required to complete a minimum of 10 weeks' internship with the Donor and/or its designated companies.
  • No bond is required of the scholarship recipients.
  • The Donor and/or its designated companies may offer career opportunities to the scholar.

Value of Award

  • Scholars are required to take advantage of the Tuition Grant Scheme (TGS) provided by the Singapore Government for subsidized education.
  • Under the TGS, foreign scholars will be obligated to work in Singapore for a minimum period of three years upon graduation.
