The Lim Hoon Foundation Scholarships have been made possible through the generous support of the Lim Hoon Foundation. The scholarships are aimed at providing financial support to outstanding full-time undergraduate students from the Lee Kong Chian School of Business, the School of Accountancy, or the School of Economics.
The following scholarships have been established:
- In Academic Year 2009-10, one scholarship for one first year student admitted into the Lee Kong Chian School of Business. The Scholarship is tenable for up to four years.
- In Academic Year 2010-11, one scholarship for one second year student from the Lee Kong Chian School of Business. The scholarship is tenable for up to three years.
- Commencing Academic Year 2011-12, one scholarship for one first year student admitted into the Lee Kong Chian School of Business, the School of Accountancy, or the School of Economics. The scholarship is tenable for up to four years.
Eligibility Criteria
- Full-time undergraduates
- Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
- Good academic achievements
- Active CCA and community service involvement
- Exemplary conduct embracing the SMU CIRCLE values
- Demonstrated financial needs
Tenure and Benefits of the Scholarship Award
- The Scholarship is valued at $5,000 per annum.
- The Scholarship renewal is subject to good academic performance and financial needs of the Scholar.
- The Scholar may be offered an internship opportunity with the Donor.
- No bond is required under the terms of this Scholarship.
Tuition Grant Scheme
Scholars are required to take advantage of the Tuition Grant Scheme (TGS) provided by the Singapore Government for subsidized education.

The Lim Hoon Foundation is a private charitable trust created in August 2008
with the primary objective of promoting academic achievement for all students, at all levels, kindergarten through university with a focus on those from low income families.
The Lim Hoon Foundation Scholarship is established at SMU in line with its ultimate objective to encourage the advancement of education through a wide range of philanthropic activities.
