Unless otherwise indicated, all fees are subjected to change from time to time. The annual full tuition fees are inclusive of GST and apply to the non-subsidized students only. The annual subsidized fees exclude GST which is separately funded by the Ministry of Education. Hence, students paying subsidized fees do not have to pay GST.
The annual subsidized tuition fees in the above table are fixed throughout the normal duration of studies at SMU (4 years duration) for the AY2008 freshmen.
AY2008-09 freshmen who are not eligible for or choose not to apply for the Singapore Government Tuition Grant Subsidy are required to pay the full fees mentioned above.
Current SMU students will not be affected by the AY2008-09 fees.
National Servicemen, whose enrolment into university is delayed for 1-2 years due to their national service obligations will pay the relevant tuition fees in the year of application and offer.
In addition to tuition fees, compulsory miscellaneous fees are payable. These fees are charged for the following general categories: registration, student activities, health insurance, library, sports-related, IT and academic-related services.

Singapore Citizens who are eligible for the tuition grant subsidy that allows them to pay subsidised tuition fees will be required to complete the Application Form for Tuition Grant and submit it to SMU Office of Finance on matriculation day. This Form can be found on the online Matriculation Pack which will be available from May of each year.
Singapore Permanent Residents and Foreign Students who are eligible for the Tuition Grant subsidy are required to submit an online application via the Ministry of Education website. In return for the benefit of subsidised education, non-citizens will be bonded to work in Singapore for 3 years upon completion of their studies. They will be required to sign a Tuition Grant Deed after applying. Two sureties are required to execute the Deed. They can be of any nationality, between 21 and 65 years of age, and must not be bankrupts. Only eligible applicants who have accepted places at SMU on a subsidised fee-paying basis will need to apply for the subsidy.
The children of Gurkha or Nepalese civilian officers, who are serving or had previously served in the Gurkha Contingent are not eligible for the Tuition Grant. However, they can apply directly to the Singapore Police Force (SPF) for the SPF Study Grant which is similar to the Tuition Grant. Application forms can be obtained from the Office of Finance.
Students will not be eligible for the Tuition Grant Subsidy if they have previously obtained a degree, or have taken the number of semesters normally required to obtain a degree on Tuition Grant, or they have been admitted into SMU on a non-subsidised fee or full fee paying basis.
The tuition fee subsidy covers tuition fees only. Miscellaneous fees are not covered.
For more information and enquiries on the Tuition Grant Subsidy scheme, please refer to the Ministry of Education (MOE) website or call the MOE Tuition Grant Section Hotline at Tel : 65-6872 2220.
Scholarships and Financial Assistance Schemes are available to help students pay for their tuition fees. Both the scholarship and financial assistance schemes are open to students who are admitted into SMU on a subsidised-fee paying basis. Students admitted on a non-subsidised fee or full-fee paying basis are not eligible to apply for these schemes. Both scholarships and financial assistance schemes cover tuition fees only. Miscellaneous fees are not covered.
