Claire Chiang Excellence Award
 

Sponsored by Ms Claire Chiang, the Award is aimed at motivating the University's exceptional talents in the School of Economics and the School of Social Sciences, and to spur them to achieve greater heights of academic excellence.

Seven(7) awards will be given over a three-year period to outstanding graduating students in the School of Economics and School of Social Sciences, as follows:

  • Three(3) awards for the top graduating students in Economics for Academic Year 2006-07.
  • One(1) award each to the top graduating student in Economics and Sociology respectively for Academic Year 2007-08.
  • One(1) award each to the top graduating student in Economics and Sociology respectively for Academic Year 2008-09.

The Awards will be presented at the SMU Commencement Ceremony.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates will be considered for the awards if they meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Good academic results (with minimum cumulative GPA of 3.4)
  • Demonstrate strong leadership potential
  • Active involvement in community service

The awards will only be given only if there are candidates of sufficient merit.
