Book Allowance
 

School of Law Book Allowance
Supported by funds contributed by the School's faculty, members of the legal fraternity and the community at large, the book allowance scheme is available to Bachelor of Laws undergraduates studying full-time at the Singapore Management University.

Up to 10 book allowance grants may be awarded annually.

Quantum

$500 per award, tenable for one year

Eligibility
  • Full-time undergraduate LL.B students of SMU of any nationality
  • Students currently studying in SMU must have an overall GPA of at least 3.0
  • Gross monthly per capita (average) household income not exceeding $1,700
  • Not in receipt of scholarships awarded by SMU or other organisations
Conditions of Award
  • Only books approved by the Dean/Associate Dean can be purchased
  • Allowance is disbursed on a reimbursement basis subject to submission of proof of purchase
Repayment
  • No repayment is required
  • A student who withdraws from SMU is required to repay the grant, except if special approval is given by the Dean's Office

The SMU Ambassadorial Corps Textbook Fund Award
The SMU Ambassadorial Corps Textbook Fund Award is established by The SMU Ambassadorial Corps, a group of SMU student ambassadors. The Award seeks to provide recognition for students who have exhibited a passion for promoting the SMU brand, name and culture, notwithstanding their financial needs.

Up to 5 awards may be given annually.

Quantum

$500 per award, tenable for one year

Eligibility
  • The Award applicants must be full-time undergraduates studying at SMU;
  • The Award applicants must have demonstrable financial needs;
  • The Award applicants must not have received any scholarship, excluding bursaries and other financial assistance schemes sponsored by SMU and/or other organisations, in the year of application;
  • Priority will be given to students who have exhibited a passion for promoting the SMU name and contributing to SMU; and
  • Members of the SMU Ambassadorial Corps are not eligible to apply.
Repayment
  • No repayment is required
  • A student who withdraws from SMU is required to repay the grant
