Programme Details - Module 3
Module 3: Finance for Directors (3 days)
This module will allow directors, senior executives or aspiring directors to understand more about company finance. The finance module is structured to highlight the financial indicators and thinking needed for finance to play a strategic role to the business and not from a controller's perspective.
I. Accounting
- You will learn how company accounts are being compiled and distinguish between management accounts and the statutory financial reports of a company.
- You will be able to evaluate and monitor the financial health of the business using accepted financial ratios and bench mark how the company is doing relative to the industry.
II. Finance
- You will understand the various sources of finance available to a company and their relative advantages and disadvantages.
- You will be able to understand various criteria used to evaluate investment options and appreciate the concept of shareholder value.
III. Shareholder Value
- You will be guided to understand how various actions adopted will impact shareholder value and appreciate the value drivers.
- You will be taught what are the risk factors affecting the company and what is meant by enterprise risk management and how board members should keep an eye on the risks.
