ADAM WONG (Executive Director, Mayvest Asia Pte Ltd)
Adam Wong is the Executive Director of Mayvest Asia Pte Ltd (training and consulting company). Prior to his current appointment, he was a General Manager with Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore and Hong Kong and the Head of Cash Management in DBS Bank.
He has 22 years of successful track record in Cash Management, eCommerce, Corporate Banking, SME Banking, Consumer Banking and Trade Finance with various banks in Asia. Having strong strategic orientation and regional exposure in South East Asia and Hong Kong, Adam is credited with significantly growing global banks' SME assets by 450% and net profit by 140% over a 3-year period in Singapore. He also started a new cash management business for a regional bank and grew it to a USD35 billion business annually.
Graduated in Accountancy, he is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Credit Risk Management Professional. Adam has contributed actively to the development and training of professionals in the financial services sector for the past 17 years by sharing his expertise regularly through The Institute of Banking and Finance, Singapore and various other organizations in Malaysia and Indonesia. He has also conducted undergraduate and post graduate programs in the area of banking and finance for leading Australian universities.
WINSTON T H KOH (PhD, Princeton University)
Winston Koh is Associate Dean, and Associate Professor of Economics at the School of Economics & Social Sciences, Singapore Management University (SMU). Winston graduated from Cambridge with Double First Class B.A. Honours, and was named Wrenbury Scholar in Political Economy in 1985. Winston was awarded a Princeton University Graduate Fellowship for his doctoral studies, and also received an Olin Foundation Summer Fellowship in 1987.
Prior to joining SMU, Winston had been an investment banker at J.P. Morgan, and had also taught at the NUS Business School, National University of Singapore. Winston is actively involved in consulting and executive development programs. Some of the institutions that he has consulted and taught for included the Allianz Group, Asian Productivity Organization, CapitaLand, Economic Development Board of Singapore, International Development Research Centre (Canada), Kerzner International Resorts Inc., Ministry of Education (Singapore), Ministry of Finance (Singapore), National Science and Technology Board of Singapore, Oxford Analytica Pte Ltd, Resource Development Corporation (Singapore), Singapore Government Investment Corporation, and Temasek Management Services Pte Ltd.
Winston is currently an Associate Editor of the Journal of Restructuring Finance , and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Technological Forecasting and Social Change. His publications have appeared in international journals such as Applied Financial Economics, Economic Theory, Economics Letters , Journal of Business Venturing, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization , Journal of Economics, Journal of Fixed Income , Journal of Institutional and Theoretical Economics, Journal of Transport Economics and Policy, Journal of Restructuring Finance, Social Choice and Welfare, Technological Forecasting and Social Change , Transportation Research , and others. In 2005, he co-edited a book on "The Economic Prospects of Singapore," in celebration of Singapore's 40 years of nationhood.
EUGENE WONG (Founder & Managing Director, Sirius Group)
Eugene Wong is the Founder and Managing Director of Sirius Group, which is a boutique private equity and business consultancy company that works with and invests in Small and Medium Sized (SME) companies. It works with growing SMEs to develop their growth strategy as well as funds them. Sirius has worked with more than 20 SMEs and invested in 5 companies. Among them are Jackspeed Corporation, Ausgroup Corporation and Yaan Security Technology, which were successfully listed in Nov 2003, April 2005 and May 2005. Eugene currently sits on the boards of several private and public companies.
He was previously the Executive Director of Crimson Asia Capital Singapore, responsible for the Singapore office. During that time, he was on the Board of several growing companies. He has been instrumental in listing the first Hong Kong IT company in Hong Kong's Growth Enterprise Market in 1999, successful merger of a Singapore based logistics company with a US , fortune 100 company in 2000 and the listing of the first Malaysian company in Singapore Main board in 2002, among other deals.
Eugene co-developed and is teaching in the Nanyang Technological University and University of Washington - Graduate Diploma in Technopreneurship and Innovation Program. He also teaches in the Nanyang Fellows MBA program. He is an Adjunct Lecturer of Singapore Management University. He co-developed and taught the Singapore Venture Capital Association and Singapore Management University's Venture Capital and Private Equity Investment Management program. He is also a Guest Lecturer in Tsinghua University , National Entrepreneurship Research Center , teaching entrepreneurial finance for MBA students. Eugene is an active speaker in seminars on fund raising and entreprenuerial finance. His area of expertise is in SME growth strategies, entrepreneurial finance, venture capital and private equity investments.
Eugene was the Ex-President of the Innovators and Entrepreneurs Association, Singapore (IdEA), an association to help and represent budding start up entrepreneurs & Innovators in Singapore. Eugene is also the current co-learning Chairman in the Singapore Chapter of the Entrepreneurs Organization (formerly known as Young Entrepreneurs Organization "YEO"), a global organization of young entrepreneurs.
Eugene received a Phd (Hon) from University of Honolulu, an M.B.A. from Imperial College, London and a BBA degree with first class honors from National University of Singapore. He was awarded the DBS Gold medal for the most outstanding finance student in the honors year in NUS Business School. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) holder. He is a Full Member of the Singapore Institute of Directors.
