About the Seminar:

The traditional model of talent management in organizations was to develop candidates from entry-level positions along predictable job ladders into senior positions. That model has undergone significant challenges as both the requirements of senior positions have become much less certain and the ability to develop candidates in traditional ways has become more difficult. Corporations in particular appear to have made much greater use of outside hiring to meet their needs for talent, especially at the CEO level. But neither does it appear to be the case that outside hiring represents an alternative model for career advancement as most outside hires are essentially lateral moves. The seminar, which represents work in the early stages of progress, considers what credible alternative models might be for talent management in the future.
