Country and Bank Sources of International Competitiveness:

The Case of the Foreign Exchange Market

By
Professor Adrian E. Tschoegl
The Wharton School
University of Pennsylvania

Wednesday, 12 July 2000, 4.30 pm

About the seminar:

Competitiveness in the foreign exchange (forex) market depends on both country and bank-specific factors. Country-specific factors include the home currency and more importantly, the home legal system. Bank-specific factors consist of the size and international reach of the banks that make up the market.

How does competition from the domestic market affect international competitiveness? Why is it that some banks are able to overcome national weakness while others are unable to live up to the potential inherent in their national origin?

These issues and other related topics will be explored in this seminar.
