SMU Business Innovation Group (SMU BIG) was set up to help nurture and promote student entrepreneurial initiatives, and create a vibrant entrepreneurial environment in the new city campus.
Besides the incubation laboratory that is available in the city campus to house budding start-ups, SMU has also, in partnership with the Ministry of Trade and Industry's (MTI) Entrepreneurship Talent Development Fund (ETDF) and the Media Development Authority's Micro Funding Scheme (iJAM) set aside a total amount of S$10.2 million dollars over a 5-year period for students to tap into for funding their start-ups. Faculty and staff members can also be part of the start-ups. The details and application procedures are available here.
Practice Professor Desai Narasimhalu from the School of Information Systems is leading the SMU BIG team, and he has put together a group of dedicated faculty and staff who are all set and geared up to take the SMU entrepreneurship movement into the next exciting growth phase. The details of the team can be found on this site.
