Mr Tan Suee Chieh

Mr Tan Suee Chieh was appointed the Chief Executive of NTUC Income Co-operative Limited in February 2007. Mr Tan also sits on several external boards including CapitaLand Financial Limited, IDA, and the International Cooperative & Mutual Insurance Federation based in the UK. He is the Co-chairman of the Institute of Service Excellence at SMU Governing Council, and sits on the Executive Committee of the Singapore Children’s Society as its Vice Chairman. Prior to his appointment as CEO at NTUC Income, Mr Tan Suee Chieh held the position of President, Asia Pacific Region of the SHL Group Limited, a British human resource consultancy firm and a world leader in objective assessment and psychometric instruments. From 1981 to 2001, Mr Tan Suee Chieh was with the Prudential Group and held several senior positions including being the Company Actuary of Prudential Malaysia, Chief Executive of Prudential Singapore and Managing Director, Established Markets of Prudential Asia. Mr Tan Suee Chieh has a first class honours degree from the London School of Economics, and a Masters Degree in Organisational Psychology from Columbia University. He is a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society and Institute of Actuaries, and was a Past President of the Life Insurance Association of Singapore as well as the Actuarial Society of Malaysia. |
Ms Elim Chew

Ms Elim Chew is the founder and the current president of 77th Street (S) Pte Ltd. Elim founded 77th Street in 1988. It was her first foray into the retail industry and has since revolutionized the streetwear scene in Singapore. In 2004, 77th Street became Singapore’s first retailer to set up a shopping mall - 77th Street Plaza, a cutting-edge underground shopping complex strategically located at Xidan Cultural Square, Beijing. Ms Chew chairs or co-chairs several public service, youth and community groups such as the Programming Committee for *scape, an iconic youth community space for youthful expressions and involvement by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) and National Youth Council (NYC); and the Culture AC Committee for Action Community for Entrepreneurship (ACE) of Ministry of Trade and Industry. She co-founded The Young Entrepreneur Mastery (TYEM), an academy which supports youth entrepreneurship and inculcates an entrepreneurial mindset in out-of-school youths. Ms Chew is also a founding member of the Social Innovation Park (SIP), a social enterprise incubator which provides a replicable set of integrated services and resources that help create a platform to support social entrepreneurs’ business solutions that advocate societal change. She is also championing Pop and Talent Hub (PaTH) Market, Singapore’s first ever social enterprise and talent development arts market, which now takes resident at VivoCity the mega mall. Ms Chew is a member of the Board of Trustees; Member of Entrepreneurship Committee; and Member of Investment Committee at the National University of Singapore. |
Mr Ray Ferguson

Mr Ray Ferguson was appointed the Chief Executive of Standard Chartered Bank in Singapore in August 2009 in addition to his role as Regional Chief Executive, Southeast Asia which he has held since December 2007. As CEO, Singapore, his key focus is the growth and governance of the Bank’s operations in Singapore. He is also responsible for all of the Bank’s businesses in Australia, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. He is based in Singapore and reports to Jaspal Bindra, Asia’s Chief Executive. He also holds the following appointments:
Mr Ferguson is an experienced international banker with over twenty years of senior management experience. His two most recent roles with Standard Chartered were Chief Executive Officer of the Americas and Chief Executive Officer of the United Arab Emirates. His career with Standard Chartered Bank has taken him from the UK as a Senior Manager, UK branches in 1994 to Singapore for three years, where he managed Asia Pacific Cash Management Sales. In 1997 he became Head of Corporate Banking in the Philippines, and was appointed Chief Executive and Corporate & Institutional Bank Head of Taiwan in 1998. Ray was the Chief Executive and Corporate & Institutional Bank Head of Indonesia from 2000 to 2002, and subsequently appointed Chief Executive Officer, UAE in 2002. Mr Ferguson is an Associate of the Institute of Bankers in Scotland and a full member of the Singapore Institute of Directors. He also serves on the Council of Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS) and The Institute of Banking and Finance (IBF) in Singapore. He holds an MBA from Henley Management College and Brunel University, UK. Mr Ferguson is 46 years old and married to Clare and they have four sons. Mr Ferguson is a British Citizen and a Permanent Resident in Singapore. |
Mr Douglas Foo

Mr Douglas Foo has been a Director of Apex-Pal International since 17 February 1997. As Founder and CEO of the group, he undertakes the overall management, strategic planning and business development functions of the group. Mr Foo started off as a marketing executive before his entrepreneurial spirit saw him set up a garment trading firm in 1996. A year later, he diversified into food & beverage with Sakae Sushi and has since developed Apex-Pal into the successful enterprise that it is today. Mr Foo is the recipient of a string of illustrious accolades and awards. He was presented with the prestigious ASEAN Youth Award 2004 for his contribution to youth and entrepreneurship. He was also accorded the Singapore Youth Award 2003 – the nation’s highest youth accolade – for his exceptional entrepreneurial achievements and notable service to the community. He has been recognized with the Rotary–ASME Entrepreneur of the Year 2002 by the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (ASME) and the Rotary Club of Singapore, the Top Outstanding Young Person Award 2002 by the Junior Chamber of Singapore, and the Yazhou Zhoukan Chinese Entrepreneur Award 2002 (Merit Award) by Yazhou Zhoukan Limited. For his outstanding management action in the food and beverage industry, Mr Foo is presented the 6th International Management Action Award by the Chartered Management Institute, Singapore in 2007. Mr Foo holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (Finance) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. |
Mr Ong Ye Kung

Mr Ong Ye Kung was appointed the Assistant Secretary-General of National Trades Union Congress on 1 December 2008. He oversees the Labour Movement’s employment and employability programmes and initiatives. Prior to joining the Labour Movement, Mr Ong was the Chief Executive of Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) from 2005 to 2008. He spearheaded many initiatives to build up the Continuing Education and Training infrastructure for Singapore, and made training accessible to the individual worker, including contract workers and the unemployed. Prior to his appointment to WDA, he served as Principal Private Secretary to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong from 2002 to 2005. He also held several other positions in the Singapore Government, including the Director of Organisation and Systems at Public Service Division, Director of Trade in the Ministry of Trade & Industry and Deputy Chief Negotiator of the US Singapore Free Trade Agreement. Mr Ong has served on the boards of several public and private organisations. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of SPRING Singapore, SMRT Corporation Ltd, Institute of Systems Science and Employment and Employability Institute Pte Ltd (e2i). He also serves on the Skills Training Committee of Chinese Development Assistance Council, Trustee of Singapore LSE Trust and Northlight School Board of Governor. He graduated in 1991 from the University of London, London School of Economics and Political Science (UK) with First Class Honours in B.Sc (Economics). He also obtained his MBA from the Institute of Management Development, Lausanne, Switzerland in 1999. Mr Ong is married with two children. |
Prof Rajendra K Srivastava

Professor Rajendra K Srivastava joined Singapore Management University (SMU) in 2008 as Provost of the university and was appointed Deputy President (Academic Affairs) of SMU in 2009. Professor Srivastava is also (currently on leave) the Roberto C. Goizueta Chair in Marketing and Digital Commerce, Goizueta Business School, Emory University where he has served as Senior Associate Dean for Academic Programs. He serves as a Research Fellow at the Institute for Studies in Business Markets (ISBM), Smeal College of Business, Penn State University; and is the Charles A. LeMaistre Centennial Fellow, IC-Sq. Institute, University of Texas at Austin. Prof Srivastava held the George Kozmetsky Chair and served as Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Research and Collaborative Programs (including Executive Education) at the University of Texas at Austin. He has been a Visiting Professor at London Business School, Indian School of Business (Hyderabad) and Helsinki School of Economics. Professor Srivastava has consulted with and designed or delivered executive education programs for firms including 3M, AMD, AT&T, American Airlines, Applied Materials, Bloomberg L.P., BMC Software, Capital One, Citigroup, Coca Cola, Cox Communications, Dell Computers, Deutsche Bank (Germany), Dow Chemicals, Du Pont, GE, GfK Academy, Hallmark, HEB, Hewlett-Packard, HSBC, IBM/Tivoli, Imation, Johnson & Johnson, Leo Burnett, LG Electronics, Lucent Technologies, Microsoft, Motorola, Nokia, Nokia-Siemens, Suez (France), SanomaWSOY (Finland), Synovus Bank, Texas Instruments, The Nutrasweet Company, Xerox Corporation, VITRO and CYDSA (in Mexico). Professor Srivastava will be conferred the Life Time Achievement Award by the Academy of Marketing’s Brand Special Interest Group at its 6th International Conference at ESADE in Barcelona in April 2010. |
