The Financial Training Institute@SMU (FTI@SMU) is the Lead Training and Assessment Provider for FICS accredited training and assessment programmes for Corporate Banking, Corporate Finance, Financial Markets, Fund Management, Private Equity and Securities & Futures.

The appointment is a strong endorsement of Singapore Management University’s (SMU) leadership in business education, and our commitment to deliver quality continuing education for banking and financial professionals.

Latest Announcements:

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) announced on 24 Nov 2008 that training incentives funded by the Financial Sector Development Fund (FSDF) will be enhanced. For financial institutions that send their staff for FICS accredited training programmes, a higher grant support of 80% will be provided. This funding support is also extended to self-sponsored individuals. For more information, please click here.

Scope of Appointment

FTI@SMU is appointed by IBF as the Lead Training and Assessment Provider for 28 job families in:

As a Lead Provider, FTI@SMU undertakes to:

  • Deliver a suite of high quality training and assessment programmes that are FICS accredited by IBF. These programmes will reach out to all levels of financial practitioners in the allocated industry segments.

  • Make available competency assessment programmes to trainees as well as persons who do not opt for training or who underwent training by another provider, and issue Statements of Attainment (SOAs) to successful candidates.

  • Provide consultancy or advisory services on mutually agreed terms to financial institutions in their adoption of FICS.

  • Provide general information on career opportunities and pathways and facilitating the placements of new entrants who have been issued SOAs by SMU in the relevant industry segment(s).
