Various Leave Entitlement
Staff are entitled to 2-4 weeks of Annual Leave depending on the level of appointment and length of service.

60 days Sick Leave (30 days for outpatient treatment and 60 days if hospitalised) are granted per annum.

Other leave which staff are entitled to, when applicable, are Matrimonial Leave, Maternity Leave, Paternity Leave, Sick Child Leave, Exam Leave, Bereavement Leave etc.

Adopting a pro-family policy and providing a truly flexible work environment to staff, SMU offers flexi-hours and flexi-place.

Remuneration & Bonuses
As SMU is committed to remaining competitive in the marketplace, we offer attractive compensation packages that are broadly based on market surveys, applicants' education, competencies, experience and skills. Included in the remuneration package are AWS and a performance-based bonus annually.

Dental, Medicial & Insurance
Aiming to provide affordable and effective healthcare, medical coverage under a group insurance scheme is extended to all staff and their eligible dependants. This covers in-patient, out-patient and specialist treatment.

Dental care is also available to staff on reimbursement and co-payment basis.

A 24-hour worldwide insurance cover including but not limited to death from all causes, and protection for permanent and total disability at a nominal premium, borne by staff, is extended to all staff and their dependants.

Staff Credit Schemes
SMU has entered into an agreement with UOB to make available the following credit scheme to staff:

Access to SMU's Library
All staff have access to the University's Library, which has a wide range of books, journals and publications.

Wellness & Fitness Programme
SMU recognizes that faculty and staff have busy lives and interests outside of work. We are committed to help them find a balance between their work, personal and family lives by setting up a staff club that promotes and supports recreational programmes and activities all year round. Staff are encouraged to seek out and experience the enjoyable recreational activities available for themselves and their families. The recreational opportunities offered are abound, broad and diverse, and designed to suit many different age groups.

Employee Self Service (ESS)
Promoting e-environment in SMU, staff can access the ESS (an on-line service to staff) anytime and anywhere to have their employment data verfied, to retrieve their mails, to apply leave on-line, to check on salary details, register for training on-line etc.
