Mr Ho Kwon Ping (“KP”) is Executive Chairman of Banyan Tree Holdings, which owns both listed and private companies engaged in the development, ownership and operation of hotels, resorts, spas, residential homes, retail galleries and other lifestyle activities in the region.
In addition to his commitment with Banyan Tree Holdings, KP is also Chairman of Singapore Management University, the third national university in Singapore; member of Asia-Pacific Council of The Nature Conservancy; member of the Global Advisory Council of London Business School; member of the International Council of the Asia Society; member of the INSEAD International Council and member of the Management Board of the Middle East Institute.
KP has been honoured with Innovation Award ( HICAP, 2003), Travel Personality of the Year (Travel Trade Gazette Travel Awards, 2004), 100 Global Leaders for Tomorrow at the World Economic Forum (2005), and Business Week magazine's 25 Stars of Asia (2005). He was also bestowed the 2005 Entrepreneurship Award by the London Business School; Lifetime Achievement Award from the Advertising Hall of Fame Awards (2005); Lifestyle, Hospitality & Retail Entrepreneur of the Year from Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award (2006); CEO of the Year at the Singapore Corporate Awards 2008 and Hotelier of the Year at the Stylemaker Awards (2008). In 2009, KP was the joint recipient of the Hospitality Lifetime Achievement Award at the prestigious China Hotel Investment Summit and he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for his significant contribution to the success of the Singapore Management University. Most recently, he became the first Asian to receive the ACA (American Creativity Association) Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his creativity and innovation in various spheres of endeavour.
KP was educated in Tunghai University, Taiwan, Stanford University, California, and holds a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) degree from the University of Singapore and an Honorary Doctorate of Business Administration in Hospitality Management from Johnson & Wales University, USA.
He is married to Claire Chiang and has two sons and a daughter.
